John Gifford, DVMDr. John Gifford, our Chief of Staff, has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 34 years since graduating from The Ohio State University in 1984. Although most of Dr. Gifford’s career has been in ambulatory service, his main focus is now small animal practice. For four years, Dr. Gifford was one of the participating veterinarians to help train and educate veterinary technology students at Cuyahoga Community College. He has also taught at Stautzenberger College in their veterinary technician program for three years.

Dr. Gifford was chosen to be a participating veterinary consultant to Pfizer Animal Health’s "Roadmap to Success," a national CD project used to train equine veterinarians to help them manage their practices more efficiently.He has been judge for the 4-H Horse Bowl District Championships for the past six years and is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and is the National Council Vice President of the Alpha Psi Veterinary Fraternity.

Dr. Gifford actively participates in, and contributes to, veterinary activities and practices in his community. Dr. Gifford has two pets, Booker and Tori.

Dr. Katie Hong, DVMDr. Katie Hong graduated from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea in 2005 and started her career as a small animal practitioner. After moving to Ohio with her husband, she continued to pursue her dream job. She completed ECFVG program and obtained her Ohio Veterinary License in 2012 and joined joined Primary Pet Care's team in 2013.

Her goal as a veterinarian is to be an excellent general practitioner who improves the quality of life of companion animals through preventive medicine ensuring lifetime pet wellness. Her interest in veterinary medicine is dentistry, internal medicine and preventive care.

Dr. Hong currently lives with her husband, two children, 2 dogs (Tank and Vanilla) and 2 cats ( Blanco and Wisker). In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, gardening and outdoor activities with her family.

Dr. Ashley Misner grew up and currently resides in Hartville, Ohio. She received an undergraduate degree from the University of Akron and earned a DVM degree from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the Primary Pet Care team, Dr. Misner practiced in Berlin and Louisville, OH. Her special interests include general medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, and canine & equine reproduction.

Dr. Misner’s passion outside of work is anything involving horses, such as participating in parades, trail rides, and shows, and is very passionate about promoting the Paso Fino breed. She also enjoys attending car shows with her husband Joe, and caring for six horses (Rambo, Al, Esperanza, India, DD, and Izzy), two pittie mixes (Bruiser & Ivy), two Nubian goats (Gump & Jenny), two barn cats (Itty Bitty & Heathen), and "just a few" chickens!

Dr. Misner is very excited to join the team at Primary Pet Care and building lasting relationships with her clients and patients!
